Note, there’s plenty of time for community consultation and Noosa Council will be keen to hear what we all think about this proposal.
The supermarket chain, Woolworths, has purchased the Myall St property across the road from the GemLife proposal and have signalled their intention to lodge a development application for a large supermarket and associated businesses.

UPDATE ON MYALL STREET LAND SALE TO WOOLIES
Things are moving faster than I first thought on this.
The Courier Mail reports today:
“Woolworths had started planning for site and was set to propose a mix of uses including a new full-line supermarket with a drive through and pick-up facility, speciality retail, new carparking and other uses depending on local needs.
“Our vision is to create a high-quality shopping and community destination that complements the village feel of Cooroy while enhancing convenience for local residents – many of whom currently drive to Tewantin, Noosaville or Peregian Springs to shop in a full-line supermarket,” Ms Powell said.
“We welcome community interest in our plans and will shortly be commencing a comprehensive engagement process with both community and stakeholders to inform our future plans for this site.
“We look forward to speaking to as many local residents as possible.”

The retailer, Woolworths, has purchased the Myall Street land opposite the Cooroy Golf Club and has sought community consultation ahead of its development application to council.

Woolies yet to lodge supermarket development application
A report in the Cooroy Rag states that Woolworths is “working very closely with Noosa Council” on a development application for a supermarket and shopping complex on their Myall St property opposite the golf course. In fact, council sources say no application has come to the planning department yet. The Rag also reports Woolies as saying they “look forward to receiving feedback from local residents over the coming months”. A web link provided is not functioning.
When there is an application, Cooroy resident and business groups will hold a joint town meeting where everyone interested can hear about any proposal from both the developer and council planners, ask questions and debate the pluses and minuses of the application.
