Cooroy Area Residents Association

The Cooroy Area Residents Association Inc (CARA) was formed 10 years ago to advocate for residents in our town and its surrounds. CARA runs Cooroy Community Noticeboard, a Facebook page with over 26,000 subscribers. Our members, including a committee of five, monitor new developments, lobby councillors, and generally look to pursue all the benefits the New Noosa Plan can provide for our town. Our aims are to:

1. To provide a platform for discussion and action on Local, State and Federal planning and community well-being issues affecting residents in the Cooroy area;

2. To raise community awareness of these issues by providing information via the CARA newsletter, the CARA Facebook page, town meetings and other forms of communication; and

3. To lodge submissions and participate in forums, reference groups, and other actions on matters concerning town planning and well-being that affect residents of the whole of the Noosa Shire.

Over the past decade we have hosted a meeting of professionals, business owners, community representatives, and others interested in how Cooroy may develop in the years to come. We’ve held town meetings on the congested intersections, on Development Applications, the New Noosa Plan 2020 and Short-Term Accommodation. And we’ve been included in Council reference groups for sustainable tourism, new flight paths, local cycleways, and the Cooroy Hinterland Playground.
